Track Name: Fire Away
they were surrounded in the harbor
and the ship was going down
the privateers were closing in
but they barely made a sound
but they were not scared, they did not flinch
and they didn’t hide below
in their hearts they knew
that it was time for them to go
they screamed yeah! yeah!
load the guns, all of you, we’re about to die in vain
then the captain leapt up on the deck
and said let’s all die for fame

now fire away / this ship is going down anyway
so fire away yeah! / so fire away
this ship is going down anyway / so fire away yeah!

they struck fear in their enemies’ eyes
as they raised up the flag
no one wanted to be the ones
to take these criminals down
after four long days the mast broke off
as the storm clouds gathered fast
but among the crew you could barely see a frown
they screamed yeah! yeah!
the captain said don’t you see men
we can still make it out all right
turn your weapons on yourselves
don’t let those bastards take your lives

yeah! so fire away!
so fire away! / this ship is going down anyway
so fire away yeah!

please don’t leave me here
i don’t wanna say good bye
but i know soon that i’m gonna die
when that bullet passes through my head
and I fall to the ground
i’ll just thank god, that you won’t be around

yeah! so fire away! /
so fire away! / this ship is going down anyway
so fire away yeah!
so fire away! / this ship is going down anyway
so fire away yeah!
Track Name: The Ballad of Johnny Ryder
just another fucking kid from the suburbs
grew up alone with his dad and his mother
he had a heart but he never tried to get too far ahead
johnny ryder he was always known
for throwing rocks and for throwing stones
and every day he ran right back to another empty home

18 years her name was mary jane
bright green eyes and a head of flame
a smoky black little heart attack
that could drive a man insane
she walked right up to young johnny’s door
he instantly fell in love with her
he soon forgot just who or what the hell he was fighting for

kids these days / always gettin’ in the way
always have to misbehave and prove us wrong
kids these days
laugh about it, dream about it
cry about it, scream about it
they’re not going anywhere — not going anywhere

one year later his life was torn
his empty house blackened by the coming storm
his parents kicked him out with a shout
“let her go keep you warm!”
he rode his skateboard to the downtown train
and headed into boston to see mary jane
his heart beat fast as he came at last
to the alleyway where she lived

kids these days / always gettin’ in the way
always have to misbehave and prove us wrong
kids these days
laugh about it, dream about it
cry about it, scream about it
they’re not going anywhere

they would have taken a gunshot wound
for their friends and family
and never asked for nothing in return
so why do they scream and die
in the streets of misery
for a family’s respect they’ll never earn?

they say happiness killed the messenger
but it was the dream that put it all to rest

livin’ in a house that he couldn’t afford
fucked around with mary jane when he got bored
he loved her and she loved him back
but he always asked for more

one day mary jane stood up and quit
all her love was spent, and johnny made her sick
she left him lying there on the couch
and that was the end of it

he left the slums of boston with a broken name
some vodka and his skateboard and a weary brain
off to california to find his lover mary jane

kids these days / always gettin’ in the way
always have to misbehave and prove us wrong
kids these days
laugh about it, dream about it
cry about it, scream about it
they’re not going anywhere — not going anywhere

they would have taken a gunshot wound
for their friends and family
and never asked for nothing in return
so why do they scream and die
in the streets of misery
for a family’s respect they’ll never earn?

they say happiness killed the messenger
but it was the dream that put it all to rest

oh johnny ryder don’t you cry
‘cause everything will be alright
oh johnny ryder don’t you fret
‘cause there’s still time to make amends
Track Name: Say Goodnight
which new devil is it this time
the one from Colorado
or the one right down the road
don’t keep secrets from me
you’ve kept us in the dark too long
take that top hat off your ugly head
and don’t come out 'til we

say goodnight / say goodbye
to the ones we lost / say good night

i can hear the madmen coming
down the plains of oklahoma
through airways in the mountains
taking pains to hide their weapons
their assault on humankind
strapped in basements with their poison
and born to waste away

say goodnight / say goodbye
to the ones we lost / say good night

in the blackened streets of boston
in the sewers out near copley
i can hear the voices rise
they’re calling out like freight trains
lonely searching in the night
phantoms looking for their mothers
let good old glory fly

say goodnight / say goodbye
to the ones we lost / say good night

say goodnight goodnight / goodbye goodbye
to the ones we lost say goodnight
Track Name: Zombie Killer
grab your guitars and guns
we leave tonight
when those zombies come
i need to get to my dad’s army base in time

zombie killer / zombie killer saves the day
zombie killer / time is my only enemy

running through an abandoned mall
with my trusty crowbar in my hand
people scared of my fear addiction
but i’m afraid they just don’t understand

zombie killer / zombie killer saves the day
zombie killer / time is my only enemy

tired, broken beaten up
what i would do for just one cup of coffee
in the recesses of my mind
i can never seem to find an outlet

zombie killer / zombie killer saves the day
zombie killer / that’s what they’re gonna call me someday

there’s a reason that i can’t feel you i’m numb
there’s a reason that i can’t see you
‘cause I’m looking for someone

time is my only enemy
Track Name: Get It Right
make up your mind / and do it fast
if you want this night to last
i don’t know what to say
i don’t know what to do
but i’d trade it all for you
look at us, we’re standing here
and we don’t know nothing about nothin’ at all
the clock keeps ticking away my life
why can’t we just get it right

‘cause i’m missin’ you deep in my heart my lover
baby baby baby won’t you take me home
won’t you take me home

‘cause i’m missin’ you deep in my heart my lover
baby baby baby won’t you take me home
won’t you take me home

‘cause i’m getting sick, and fed up with your tricks
why don’t you just kill me now
your heart is full of lies
but when i look inside
i don’t have a single doubt

‘cause now i’m done with your games
your cold-heated confidence that destroyed my brain
i’m here if you want me
but I know that you’ll forget me
but that’s ok some people are just lost
that’s ok some people are just lost

‘cause i’m missin’ you deep in my heart my lover
baby baby baby won’t you take me home
won’t you take me home

and someday maybe i’ll stop to take a look around me
but i doubt it / you know the games don’t stop
and the world don’t stop and you know that
so get me out of this cage / get me out of this cage

i’m missin’ you deep in my heart my lover
baby baby baby won’t you take me home
won’t you take me home
Track Name: The Mountain
when i awoke from my slumber i was so sad
i knew that my dreams were just pictures
my stash was depleted
and my eyes were cold and grey
the wolfman whispered
to sleep the day away

i’m back to the top of the mountain in my dream
down to the trail beneath the trees
oh the things that I can see
oh the things that we can dream

sometimes my whole wide world
comes tumbling down
i can’t even picture your face
but a wise man once told me
that there’s always one more hit
so I erase your painful memory
as I’m roll one up like this
and I smoke it all

on top of the mountain in my dream
down to the trail beneath the trees
oh the things that I can see
oh the things that we can dream

i can be the dragon
you can be the fool
in the king’s castle
you can try to slay me
but i’ll fly away
to my favorite place of all

i would wait a lifetime
to see your face again
i’d wait forever
i’d wait ‘til the end
